CEMARS® Australia

Certified Emissions Measurement And Reduction Scheme

What is CEMARS?

CEMARS is a world-class greenhouse gas (GHG) certification programme that enables businesses and organisations to measure their greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, understand their carbon liabilities, and put in place management plans to reduce emissions in their organisation and more widely through their supply chain.

CEMARS certification is an internationally accredited brand owned by the carboNZero programme and is offered in Australia under license through Lloyd’s Register Quality Assurance (LRQA).

It is developed from over 15 years expert scientific research on GHG emissions measurement, management and reporting at Landcare Research, one of New Zealand’s leading Crown Research Institutes.

Organisations participating in CEMARS gain independent verification that their emissions are calculated in accordance with ISO 14064-1 (the international standard for organisational greenhouse gas quantification and reporting) and a range of international standards and reporting schemes. The scheme is aligned with National Greenhouse and Energy Reporting (NGER) requirements.

CEMARS has been developed for Australian businesses and organisations that are seeking to minimise operating costs, manage environmental risks and demonstrate credible environmental credentials to customers, suppliers and stakeholders.
