The carboNZero programme wins two categories in the Sustainable 60 Awards 2009, and is finalist in a third

The inaugural Sustainable 60 Awards, sponsored by PriceWaterhouseCoopers and Fairfax Media, are aimed at identifying and sharing innovative sustainable business practice in the business sector in New Zealand. The purpose is to share examples of how companies have addressed the concept of sustainability, built it into their business model, brand, practices and processes, and some of the challenges they have, and continue to, encounter. The awards are divided into five key categories:

The winners were chosen from an exceptional line up of companies (over 150 entries) who all exemplify commitment across the breadth of sustainable business practices that mean their companies are built to last.

The carboNZero programme was finalist in three categories; 'Strategy and governance', 'Workplace' and 'Marketplace' and was winner in two categories:

Sustainable 60 winner logoStrategy and governance – value drivers for innovative leadership
This category addresses the big picture of sustainable business practices. It identifies the value drivers and the success stories of companies that have used sustainability, or elements of it, to position themselves in their marketplace. Issues covered may include succession planning, anti-bribery, corruption, development of business principles or mission/vision/values.

Sustainable 60 winner logoMarketplace – the value-chain interface
The marketplace category is targeted at understanding aspects of innovative sustainable business practice connected to goods and services provided to customers, up and down the value chain.

These two awards represent much about who we are and how we operate as a business. One of our challenges as an environmentally focused service provider is that we can easily be pigeon holed into “Green Only ” category and these awards shows that we are indeed much, much more.
